Secretary of State Paweł Bejda: Army maintenance expenditure will increase to PLN 200 billion next year

03 September 2025
“Army and industry – cooperation for building defence capabilities” is the name of the conference that took place today at the Targi Kielce Congress Centre. The discussions focused on the directions of development and cooperation between the Polish Armed Forces and the defence industry, including the private sector and its potential

In his speech, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defence, Paweł Bejda, announced that the geopolitical situation forces an increase in current expenditure on maintaining the army from 4.7% of GDP, i.e. approximately PLN 180 billion this year, to approximately PLN 200 billion in 2026.

The Minister emphasised the need to ensure the implementation of contracts in a way that guarantees the payment of taxes in Poland and the employment of local workers. He reminded us that the proper negotiation of foreign agreements is not without significance, as the purchase cost is usually one-third of the equipment price, to which two-thirds of the price for its operation should be added.

The conference was also attended by representatives of the Management of the Armaments Policy Department of the Ministry of National Defence, the General Staff of the Polish Army and the Armaments Agency.

The event was organised by the Ministry of National Defence, the Department of Cooperation with Industry, and the Department of Armaments Policy.
