MSPO 2025: PGZ and PIT-RADWAR with a contract for passive location radars
The SPL system, based on a unique combination of PET and PCL technologies, allows for the detection and tracking of airborne objects without emitting its own signal, which makes it challenging to track and jam. This solution puts Poland at the global forefront of modern defence technologies. As emphasised during the ceremony, this project is not only an investment in national security but also in the development of Polish technology and the economy.
Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasised that the decision to purchase the radars was in line with the government's priorities in airspace protection. – Security is linked with the economy - these two values complement each other. SPL radars will increase Poland's defence capabilities, while also providing new jobs and contributing to the growth of the domestic industry's potential, said the Minister of National Defence.
Representatives of PGZ also spoke during the ceremony - the Vice-President of the Management Board Arkadiusz Bąk pointed out that this is the first project in the world of such an advanced passive location system. – We combine PET and PCL technologies, reaching the highest level. It is a great commitment, but also a reason to be proud that the Polish army will be enriched with equipment that was created with the participation of domestic engineers, he emphasised.
The SPL contract is part of a broader modernisation program for the Polish Armed Forces. Poland has been catching up in the field of radar technology for years, and now – thanks to PGZ – it is becoming an equal partner in NATO and the European Union. The signed contract confirms that our country's industrial and scientific competencies are ready to meet the most demanding challenges.
