Polish-Korean special-purpose vehicle established during MSPO 2025
The industrial partnership of strategic importance
The founding act was signed by: Piotr Wojciechowski, President and CEO of WB Electronics, representing WB GROUP, and Jae-il Son, President and CEO of Hanwha Aerospace. The new company aims to serve as the foundation for cooperation in the production of advanced rocket ammunition in Poland.
The event was graced with the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Minister of Defence Paweł Bejda, and Head of the Armaments Agency Brig. Gen. Artur Kuptel, and the Korean side was represented by Deputy Minister of Defence Hyunki Cho and Deputy Minister Guckcheol Bang from the Korean Agency for Defence Acquisitions (DAPA).
The Minister of National Defence emphasised the groundbreaking nature of the project: – This is an extraordinary moment - Poland is gaining further capabilities to produce military equipment. Not only do we import goods from abroad, but thanks to these contracts, we also bring production into the country. We deliver more in Poland, and we will develop very strongly in Polish private companies.
The representative of the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Korea emphasised the personal dimension of the signed agreement: "I was responsible for testing its performance during the development of this system." The fact that it will now be jointly developed with such a strategic partner as Poland is profoundly moving for me. The agreement signed today will allow us to move from a simple purchase to a partnership in which we analyse, make decisions and develop technology together.
A new chapter for the Polish arms industry
So far, Poland has purchased advanced ammunition from foreign suppliers. With the special purpose vehicle, the production of missiles and ammunition for the HOMAR-K system will take place in Polish plants, which will significantly enhance the country's security and make the Polish Armed Forces less dependent on foreign supplies.
This is the next stage of strategic cooperation with South Korea, after the launch of production of K2 tanks in Poland. As emphasised during the ceremony, joint projects are of a long-term nature and constitute the foundation for the development of defence and for strengthening the position of Polish industry on the international stage.
