Military University of Technology at MSPO: new agreements in quantum, aerospace and defence technologies

02 September 2025
The Military University of Technology has signed key agreements with domestic and foreign partners. The agreements include cooperation in quantum engineering and technology with the Warsaw University of Technology, the development of training programs and engine laboratories with GE Aerospace, and research and development projects in the field of aviation, space and defence systems technologies with Hanwha Aerospace Europe

On the first day of the XXXIII International Defence Industry Exhibition, the Military University of Technology signed letters of intent on cooperation and agreements with partners from the fields of science, higher education, the defence industry and the advanced technology sector.

Cooperation between the Military University of Technology and the Warsaw University of Technology

A letter of intent regarding close cooperation in the field of quantum engineering and technology was signed on behalf of the Military University of Technology by the Rector-Commander, Brigadier General, Prof. Dr. Hab. Engineer   Przemysław Wachulak and on behalf of WUT – Rector Prof. Dr. hab. Eng Krzysztof Zaremba. The agreement heralded even closer cooperation between the two universities in the field of quantum technologies.  The flagship joint project was MIKOK, coordinated by the Warsaw University of Technology with the participation of many institutions, including the Cyberspace Defence Forces Component. In this project, the Institute of Optoelectronics of the Military University of Technology was responsible for launching the optoelectronic systems of a quantum computer based on an ion trap.  Tests confirmed the stability of the quantum register. Owing to the synergy of scientific and engineering competences of WAT and WUT, it has become possible to strengthen Polish technological sovereignty in the area of quantum engineering. - We will have a unique Polish quantum computer - said the Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology, Prof. Dr. hab. Engineer   Krzysztof Zaremba.

Cooperation between WAT Military University of Technology and GE Aerospace

On the same day, at the WAT stand, a letter of intent was signed between the Military University of Technology and General Electric Aerospace.  The agreement announced cooperation on a ground support training program for the F110-GE-129E engine, which powers the F-15EX fighter.  The parties also discussed the establishment of an Additive Manufacturing Laboratory for Aircraft Engines at the Military University of Technology and the possibility of establishing an engine school for technical personnel servicing the F110 engine.  GE Aerospace and WAT have already been collaborating on the AH-64E Apache offset program, and the new agreement was intended to expand that cooperation. Brig signed the letter. Gen. Prof. Dr. Hab. Eng. Przemysław Wachulak from the Military University of Technology and Scott Keating, Regional VP/GM Sales, Business Development Europe from GE Aerospace.

- Our meeting today during MSPO confirms that in the field of aviation technology, the Military University of Technology has become a reliable and natural partner for cooperation in the activities of the Ministry of National Defence. The future expansion of the Institute of Aviation Technology's infrastructure for the Aviation and Space Sciences program will allow us to carry out tasks for our Armed Forces in the new Aircraft Engine Additive Manufacturing Laboratory at the Military University of Technology, he noted.  Rector-Commandant of the Military University of Technology, Brigadier General, Prof. Dr. hab. Eng. Przemysław Wachulak. - Now, WAT operates devices using additive manufacturing techniques using polymer materials and metal powders. In our research projects, we evaluate the mechanical properties of new construction materials for weapons technology. Thanks to the strengthening of cooperation with GE Aerospace, WAT's experience in additive manufacturing will be expanded to include applications of this technology in aircraft engines.

WAT Military University of Technology agreement with Hanwha Aerospace Europe

The agreement with South Korea's Hanwha Aerospace Europe initiated cooperation in the areas of aviation, space and defence technologies. The agreement will initiate cooperation in the areas of aviation, space and defence technologies. The Polish-Korean partnership strengthens the Polish defence industry, creates a production base for advanced defence systems and conditions for the creation of innovative solutions and technologies. Hanwha Aerospace is the manufacturer of the K9 gun-howitzer and Homar-K rocket launchers, which are already in service with the Polish Armed Forces.  Particular hopes are pinned on land platforms for the Polish army.  The agreement provides for the possibility of joint implementation of research and development projects on a wide range of topics, including radar systems, communication, navigation, energy transformation, sustainable development, precise time measurement, and IT. Interesting internships and training opportunities are also planned for students and academic staff of WAT.

Technologies presented at the WAT expo stand

During MSPO, the Military University of Technology is presenting ten scientific and development projects, including solutions supporting security and defence, such as a set of tools supporting strategic decisions, a system for evacuating the wounded from the battlefield without endangering the lives of rescuers, and optoelectronic modules for the Polish satellite system.
