Important PGZ contracts on the second day of MSPO. Ministers Balczun and Tomczyk attend the expo
During the 33rd International Defence Industry Exhibition held at Targi Kielce, the Polish Armaments Group concluded numerous contracts. The agreement with PKO Bank Polski, one of the key ones, is intended to strengthen the financial liquidity and investment development of PGZ. The agreement provides for the possibility of opening credit lines of up to PLN 12 billion. Minister of State Assets Wojciech Balczun was present at the signing of the contract and he announced that the ministry does not want to play only the role of a technical supervisor over PGZ or other companies involved in the development of the Polish defense industry. - The Ministry of State Assets intends to be a very active participant supporting the functioning of these entities. I am convinced that by seeking synergies between state-controlled companies, we can achieve much greater results, he noted. He added that the agreement between PGZ and PKO BP represents another step in implementing this strategy. Minister Balczun visited the MSPO for the first time. - You can see the scale and potential of the Polish and other arms industry - he said.
PKO BP President Szymon Midera described the cooperation with PGZ as groundbreaking. As he explained, the goal is to provide the group with liquidity through the so-called cash pool, support investments in production capacity, and handle export contracts. The investment limit at PKO BP will increase from approximately PLN 2 billion to PLN 12 billion. – Security can go hand in hand with economic development – he emphasised, pointing to the high economic multiplier of investments in the arms sector.
President of PGZ Adam Leszkiewicz announced that the group is now implementing contracts worth approximately PLN 130 billion, and this year it expects revenues of around PLN 20 billion. He noted that cooperation with PKO BP and Tuesday's agreement with BGK will enable the creation of a new financing model supporting the development and security of the state.
On Wednesday, PGZ also concluded a cooperation agreement with research institutes, including: Łukasiewicz Research Network and the Military Institute of Armoured and Automotive Technology. Another contract was signed between PGZ, Bydgoszcz Electromechanical Works Belma and the Military Institute of Armament Technology. The signing of contracts with military institutes was graced with the presence with Cezary Tomczyk, Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defence.
- This is a historic decision - he noted. - Together with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, we have decided to do everything possible to integrate the army with Polish industry. This is our task. A few years ago it was easier to buy something from abroad than to produce it in Poland. The real difficulty is to build technological thought, jobs and plants. For PGZ to operate effectively, it needs contact with the end user, i.e. the Polish army. Therefore, today the military institutes that are part of the Ministry of National Defence will become a key partner of PGZ and will always be the first choice. If PGZ wants to test elements, these military institutes, they will be the first choice. Conversely, if a military institute wants to commercialise the product, its first choice will be PGZ and the State Treasury. We need to build synergy, Cezary Tomczyk emphasized.
