First day of MSPO 2025. "This expo is not about war. This expo is about peace"

Visits by government representatives, meetings with foreign delegations, cooperation agreements, and press conferences – an exciting and business-oriented inauguration of the 33rd International Defence Industry Exhibition

This year's expo brings together a record-breaking 811 companies from 35 countries, occupying a total of 40,000 square meters of exhibition space.  Politicians, including delegations from 45 countries, military officials and representatives of the world's largest arms companies are meeting in Kielce, the capital of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.  

The opening ceremony on Tuesday, 2 September, was attended by politicians, military officials and representatives of the largest arms companies, as well as delegations from 45 countries. President of Targi Kielce, Dr. Andrzej Mochoń,  emphasised that the role of MSPO is of a special nature.
Targi Kielce - where tradition and modernity go hand in hand. We started with one expo hall, and today MSPO is the third in Europe after Paris and London.  In Kielce, we will address key challenges such as artificial intelligence, cybercrime and unmanned technology. - he said. 

The president of Targi Kielce added that next year the event will be held in a new expo hall with an area of 15,500 m², which will improve the comfort of exhibitors and visitors.

Speaker of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia drew attention to the importance of trade fairs for the sense of security. - I hope that after these four days, Poland and the world will be safer.  This expo is not about war. This event intends to make people feel safe, and the technologies presented will save the lives of soldiers. - he noted. 

Minister of National Defence and Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized the scale of the event and its importance for the Polish economy: – We can be proud because Kielce is triumphant and is at the center of attention in Europe and the world. There are over 800 exhibitors from 35 countries.  We are building new types of troops, including drones, medical personnel, a cyber army, and the Artificial Intelligence Implementation Centre. Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) has several dozen contracts

The trade fair was already bustling with meetings, conferences, and presentations on the first day. PGZ, MSPO's Strategic Partner, intends to sign approximately 40 contracts during the four days of the fair, announced Adam Leszkiewicz, CEO of PGZ, at a press conference.  Vice-Presidents Arkadiusz Bąk, Marcin Idzik, Piotr Zawieja and Jan Grabowski also participated in the meeting with journalists.  They presented the companies' activities and the latest products, which were the subject of negotiations with numerous contractors visiting this year's MSPO. Important agreements were concluded on the first day in the presence of Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

At the trade fair, PGZ is presenting its first exhibits, including the Baobab serial mine-laying vehicle and the first serial unit of the New Borsuk Amphibious Infantry Fighting Vehicle. A model of the Heavy Infantry Fighting Vehicle is among the premieres. In total, the Polish Armaments Group will present a dozen or so tracked and wheeled vehicles for various purposes at the Kielce exhibition.

Cooperation between the Ministry of National Defence (MON) and the National Defence League (LOK)

Deputy Prime Minister at the Ministry of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Secretary of the Management Board of the National Defence League Janusz Chwiejczak and President of the League Jan Salamucha participated in the ceremonial signing of the agreement, which aims to carry out joint actions for defence and disseminate defence knowledge and skills among the public, especially school and university students. The deal stipulates support for theoretical and practical classes conducted within the CyberMil Military Preparation Units throughout the country.

The agreement opens a new stage of cooperation between the state and social organisations in the development of defence skills, patriotic education and strengthening Poland's security.

Gala assembly for cadets during the 33rd MSPO

On the first day of MSPO, the Uniformed Classes Roll Call took place, as per tradition.  During the ceremony, Minister of National Defence and Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz met with 180 cadets from five schools in the Świętokrzyskie region. He announced the immediate launch of a program training students to become drone operators. The initiative involves approximately 500 students from 16 schools. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the need to train pilots of unmanned aircraft, which will be addressed by the launched drone program for military preparation units.

The business agreements signed by companies from Poland, Ukraine and Taiwan

On the first day of MSPO 2025 at Targi Kielce, agreements regarding drones were established. Under the memorandum, the Polish company POLTAIW APEX will distribute drone components from the Taiwanese company Thunder Tiger. Parts from Poland will be sent to drone manufacturers not only in Europe but also worldwide.  They will be used in devices manufactured for numerous industries. Official agreements have also been signed by the Lviv Tech Cluster from Ukraine and the Taiwan Excellence Drone International Opportunities Alliance (TEDIBOA).   The agreement aims to create a platform for future industrial cooperation.

Military University of Technology at MSPO: new agreements 

The Military University of Technology signed three key agreements during the first day of the XXXIII MSPO. Together with the Warsaw University of Technology, the university declared the development of quantum technologies, including the construction of a Polish quantum computer, as part of the MIKOK project. Collaboration with GE Aerospace includes training programs for operating F110-GE-129E engines and the establishment of an Additive Manufacturing Laboratory for Aircraft Engines. The agreement with Hanwha Aerospace Europe paved the way for joint research and development projects in the field of aviation, space and defence technologies. Partnerships strengthen the position of WAT as an important centre for the development of modern technologies for the defence sector.

The following days of the exhibition are ahead of us.

MSPO 2025 will last until Friday, 5 September. The show will culminate with the Gala Awarding Ceremony – presentation of the Award of the President of Poland, DEFENDER Awards and special distinctions bestowed by the Minister of National Defence, the Minister of Finance and Economy and the Head of the Inspectorate of Support for the Armed Forces.
