“Cooperation between Polish foundries and the defence industry” - the STOP conference within the scope of MSPO

04 September 2025
On the third day of the International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce (04/09/2025), the conference on “Cooperation of Polish foundries with the defence industry”, organised by the Technical Association of Polish Founders in cooperation with the Foundry Chamber of Commerce brought together representatives of domestic foundries and Polish Armaments Group SA, as well as companies such as: Rosomak SA, Zakłady Metalowe "Dezamet" SA and Huta Stalowa Wola SA.

About the future of the Polish foundry

The conference was opened by Andrzej Ryba (Foundry Chamber of Commerce) and Prof. Dr. hab. Engineer   Rafał Dańko (STOP). Representatives of PGZ SA then presented areas of potential cooperation with the foundry sector, including the demand for specific components, the subcontracting model, supplier qualification procedures, quality and documentation standards, and participation in long-term modernisation programs. – We are committed to expanding cooperation between our domestic foundries and representatives of the arms industry. Today's meeting is a good start to building relationships that will bring benefits to both parties – said Prof. Dr. hab. Engineer    Rafał Dańko (STOP President). The meeting for foundry companies presented their business profiles, technologies and production capabilities.  120 mm cast iron bodies for combat vehicles (Metalpol Węgierska Górka), proposals for the production of components for the army (Odlewnia Silum), as well as presentations on advanced technological solutions (Hartownia, Neocast) were on the agenda.

Discussion and industry participation

An essential point of the program was the part devoted to issues related to technical and quality requirements, audits, the supplier registration process and the possibilities of long-term cooperation with PGZ SA. Thanks to today’s meeting, PGZ learned about the possibilities of the Polish foundry industry, and we learned about detailed procedures for starting cooperation with companies in the defence sector. The interest of Polish foundries in cooperating with this sector is genuinely enormous, hence the idea for such a conference and mutual getting to know each other. We want most of the castings for the production of various types of military equipment to come from Polish foundries, because this guarantees independence and safety – said Andrzej Ryba, president of OIG. The meeting was attended by representatives of several foundry companies, including: PGO SA, Aludesign, ZM WSK Rzeszów, Meta-Zel, Thoni Alutec, Alteams Poland, Fansuld, Ferrex, Metalodlew, Odlewnie Polskie, Odlewnia Kutno or Kawmet.   Also present were representatives of the organisers – the Polish Technical Association of Founders and the Foundry Chamber of Commerce.

The conference significance

The conference became a forum for the exchange of experiences and expectations between the foundry industry and the defence sector. Participants emphasised the need to build lasting business relationships, utilise domestic production potential, and increase the share of Polish foundries in the defence supply chain.
