Sherwin-Williams Exterior solutions have been developed for manufacturers facing increasingly demanding requirements for coating durability and product aesthetics, while also looking to improve production efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing.

Protecting Wood Without Hiding Its Character

Throughout the year, exterior wooden windows and doors are exposed to UV radiation, rain, moisture and significant temperature fluctuations. A coating therefore needs to provide effective protection while enhancing the wood’s natural grain and colour.

At the Sherwin-Williams stand, visitors will be able to discover, among other solutions, the transparent LAQVIN TOP EM4642 coating. The system creates an almost raw-wood appearance while providing protection against UV radiation and weathering. Its UV absorbers and stabilisers help limit surface degradation and reduce the frequency of future maintenance. A similar approach is taken by Sayerlack AZ82XX, a coating designed for exterior wooden windows and doors. It combines a natural, semi-transparent finish with high resistance to UV radiation and weathering. Sayerlack is also developing Hydroplus water-based systems, whose durability and resistance are confirmed by international certifications, including the CATAS QUALITY AWARD and CATAS–WKI PREMIUM. Coatings with Plant-Based Ingredients

At the trade show, ICA will present ARBOREA PROTECH BIO LA631IG20BIO – a two-component, transparent water-based topcoat designed for windows and doors.

The product combines the protective properties of PROTECH technology with solutions from the BIO range. It contains partially plant-based resins while offering high hardness as well as chemical and mechanical resistance. It is particularly recommended for entrance doors – intensively used surfaces exposed to contact with fats, oils and other substances.

ICA’s water-based coatings for exterior applications have been developed to provide durable protection for frames, shutters and other wooden elements. Their benefits include short processing times, coating flexibility, resistance to temperature changes and weathering, as well as reduced solvent emissions. Faster Production and Greater Scope for Personalisation

Wood protection is not the only focus of the presentation. Joinery manufacturers are increasingly looking for technologies that can shorten application times, reduce the number of production steps and improve the efficiency of coating lines.

One response to these needs is Sherwin-Williams LAQVIN FAST DRY COMBI BASE EG1544 – a water-based topcoat base designed, among other applications, for pine and spruce wooden façades and fibre-cement boards. Its single-coat application and very fast drying simplify the production process, while its tintability makes it possible to deliver projects in a wide range of colours. Another feature of the product is its A2 reaction-to-fire classification.
