PPWR: time for action the first industry debate at the Plastpol trade fair

15 April 2026
In the face of upcoming regulatory changes, the plastics market is accelerating its preparations to implement the EU PPWR. An important event on this topic will be a specialist conference organised by the ePlastics portal, taking place on the third day of the Plastpol trade fair, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Admission is free, open to the public.

Plastpol - the centre of debate on the future of the industry

The Plastpol International Fair of Plastics and Rubber Processing has been the most important meeting place for the industry in Central and Eastern Europe for 30 years. This year, one of the key points of the program will be a conference devoted to PPWR – regulations that will fundamentally change the packaging market.

The event's location during the trade fair is not accidental  as the expo is where representatives of the entire value chain meet – from raw material producers, through processors, to recycling companies and end users. Thus, the discussion about the future of the sector gains a practical, business dimension.

PPWR – a revolution that has already begun

The new European Union regulations on packaging and packaging waste (PPWR) will introduce a number of obligations that companies must implement in the coming years. These include:

  •  increasing the share of recycled materials,
  •  limiting excessive packaging,
  •  designing products in accordance with recycling principles,
  •  development of reuse systems.

As the conference organisers, representatives of the eplastics. The PL portal emphasises that the industry is currently at a turning point – it is no longer a stage of analysis, but of implementing specific solutions.

Experts and practitioners at Targi Kielce

The conference will bring together a wide range of participants representing key market segments.  Speakers and guests are representatives of manufacturing companies and industry organisations, as well as experts in recycling regulations and technologies.

Thanks to such a diverse group, it will be possible to conduct a multifaceted analysis of the impact of PPWR – from both legislative and operational perspectives. Participants will be able to learn about specific examples of actions taken today by companies preparing for the new requirements.

 From theory to practice

The conference agenda will focus on the practical aspects of implementing the new regulations.  Discussions will include:

  •  interpretation of PPWR provisions,
  •  availability and quality of secondary raw materials,
  •  technologies supporting recycling and circularity,
  •  adaptation strategies of companies.

This practical approach is expected to be the greatest value of the meeting – participants will not only learn about the directions of change, but also specific tools and solutions.

A common response to common challenges

The Plastpol conference will be an important step in building a common industry position towards upcoming regulations. Cooperation among companies, institutions, and industry organisations will be crucial to the effective implementation of the PPWR.

Kielce is where answers will be given to questions that the entire sector is currently asking. How to adapt to new requirements, where to seek a competitive advantage, and how to reconcile environmental goals with business realities.

The time for action has come, and Plastpol will become the place where the industry sets the direction of this change.

The 30th International Fair of Plastics and Rubber Processing Plastpol will run from 19 to 22 May 2026, at Targi Kielce. The PPWR conference, organised by eplastics.pl, will be held on May 21, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Check out the PPWR conference program and register
