Plastics Industry Meeting at Targi Kielce. Industry Debates Europe’s Competitiveness and the Future of the Plastics Market

19 May 2026
Representatives of the European plastics industry, market experts, trade organisations, entrepreneurs and journalists gathered at Targi Kielce for the Plastics Industry Meeting conference. Held ahead of PLASTPOL 2026, the event became an important forum for discussions on the state of European industry, the impact of EU regulations, and the challenges of maintaining market competitiveness against global producers.

The conference was opened by Bożena Staniak, Vice President of Targi Kielce, Anna Kozera‑Szałkowska, Managing Director of Plastics Europe Polska, and Robert Szyman, Director General of the Polish Union of Plastics Converters. Throughout the debates, speakers repeatedly emphasised the importance of the European plastics industry for the economy, raw material security and the development of modern technologies.

The first session focused on the sector's economic situation and market prospects in Poland and across Europe. Experts analysed the current condition of the industry, energy costs, competition from outside the European Union and the impact of regulations on business operations.

A debate on the Circular Economy Act and new directions in European circular economy policy attracted significant interest. Representatives of industry organisations and recycling companies discussed the future of the recyclates market, new obligations for businesses and the need to build a competitive and stable secondary raw materials market in Europe.

During the session on the trade landscape, experts highlighted the need to strengthen local raw-material security and develop European sources of industrial materials. Discussions also focused on the importance of recycling and investments in modern plastics processing technologies.

The Plastics Industry Meeting opened the programme of accompanying events for PLASTPOL 2026. Organisers invite trade fair participants to attend the upcoming conferences and industry seminars taking place at Targi Kielce.
