34. MSPO Officially Open: The ceremony was an opportunity to make important announcements

08 September 2026
Poland's Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Canadian Minister of National Defence David McGuinty, and top-tier dignitaries from state authorities, the armed forces, the diplomatic corps, international delegations, defence industry heavyweights, and global media gathered for the official opening of the 34th International Defence Industry Exhibition.

"At this year's International Defence Industry Exhibition, we will witness technologies that barely a few years back belonged firmly in science fiction: artificial intelligence, autonomous kit, drones, robotics, cutting-edge cybersecurity, reconnaissance, and battlefield communications. We will see the latest hardware from global giants right alongside breakthroughs from Polish engineers. Yet the most vital developments are often far less conspicuous—take the quiet chats that ignite major joint ventures. MSPO will always prove fertile ground for such exchanges," declared Dr Andrzej Mochoń, President of Targi Kielce, during his opening address.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz cast his mind back to last year's showcase during his speech.

"A year ago, I stood on this very stage utterly blown away by what Dr Mochoń had pulled off. Today, that impression is grander still—with even more companies, a bustling floor of exhibitors, and partner nations led by Canada," he noted. "The city of Kielce and the Świętokrzyskie region are truly fit to host Poland's premier defence expo and the third-largest event of its kind across Europe. We take immense pride in hosting a fair of this stature outside a sprawling metropolis, right here in the beating heart of Poland," he emphasized.

Canada takes centre stage as this year's lead partner nation, with Canadian Minister of National Defence David McGuinty addressing the assembly to underline the strategic weight of Polish-Canadian ties.

"My sincere thanks to the Polish government and MSPO organizers for inviting Canada to partner in this edition—we are thrilled to be here," the minister opened. "This goes far beyond mere honour; it underscores our deepening defence alliance, which is poised to blossom into tangible opportunities, investments, and ultimately, robust security," he remarked.

The opening ceremony also served as the launchpad for a landmark rebrand for Targi Kielce. After decades under its legacy name, the venue is rolling out a fresh brand identity as Expo Kielce, an announcement delivered live at the opening by its President, Dr Andrzej Mochoń. He stressed that the new moniker is tailored to champion the venue's international reach.

Yet this year's Exhibition packs in even more debuts—marking the very first event where exhibitors move into Targi Kielce's brand-new exhibition hall, unveiled just weeks before the show. It is largely due to this bold infrastructural push that the expo, launched on 8 September, has reached such breathtaking proportions.
