More Than 60 PGZ Products in SAFE Catalogue. Talks on Polish Arms Exports Under Way in Kielce
Jan Grabowski, Vice-President of the Management Board of PGZ S.A., commented on the presentation of the catalogue of PGZ products intended for the second stage of joint procurement under the SAFE mechanism.
“Our catalogue includes more than 60 PGZ products that qualify for the SAFE programme. We are ready to sell these products to our EU allies participating in the SAFE mechanism,” said Jan Grabowski.
From Domestic Orders to Joint Procurement
As the PGZ representative stressed, the current stage of the SAFE mechanism is opening up new opportunities for the Polish defence industry. The focus is no longer solely on orders placed to meet the needs of the Polish Armed Forces, but also on joint procurement carried out by European countries. MSPO has provided a platform for concrete discussions on this issue. In Kielce, PGZ representatives met, among others, with partners from Spain and Greece.
“With Greece, we discussed the land forces and how they could be better equipped with heavy-duty vehicles carrying various types of ammunition,” said Jan Grabowski.
In the case of Spain, the talks are at an earlier stage. As the PGZ Vice-President noted, joint procurement processes primarily require agreements at government level, while the role of industry is to ensure that it has the capacity to deliver future orders.
PIORUN Systems for Poland and the Baltic States
The PIORUN systems are an example of cooperation under joint procurement. Poland is to manufacture them both for its own Armed Forces and for partners in the Baltic states.
“We should also remember that we have common procurement when it comes to our PIORUN systems. Poland will produce them for itself and for the Baltic countries. This is a very important and strategic agreement between Poland, Lithuania and Latvia,” stressed Jan Grabowski.
As he noted, in the case of further potential customers, talks between the governments and defence ministries of the respective countries will be crucial.
Baobab Showcases PGZ Capabilities
More than 60 products from the Group are included in the SAFE catalogue. Asked during the briefing which solution he was particularly proud of, Jan Grabowski pointed to the Baobab scatterable mine-laying system presented at MSPO.
“Personally, I am most proud of what is standing here next to us at the exhibition – the Baobab scatterable mine-laying system. Baobab is a system that was developed in industry over a very long period, but has finally entered service with the Polish Armed Forces. This is a tremendous success for both industry and the Armed Forces,” said the PGZ Vice-President.
The system is also attracting interest from international partners. According to PGZ representatives, talks that previously focused primarily on the product itself are becoming increasingly concrete, covering issues such as possible delivery dates and contacts between the defence ministries of interested countries.
The presentation of the catalogue at MSPO 2026 in Kielce highlights the growing importance of the exhibition not only as a showcase for Polish defence technologies, but above all as a venue for discussions on exports, joint European procurement and the development of international industrial cooperation.
