This solution is composed by three main components: An IP Core for FPGA that implements the timestamping unit (TSU); a PTP stack for Linux operating system (running on the in-built SoPC processor) and a driver (provided as a patch for Linux kernel).
PreciseTimeBasic IP Core is specifically designed for AMD/Xilinx SoPC platforms, specifically Zynq®-7000 & Zynq®UltraScale+ MPSoC families.
This product provides higher accuracy and flexibility compared to SOC-E 1588Tiny IP Core by making use of a software PTP stack.
SpaceWire protocol is a standard for high-speed links and networks for use in on-board spacecraft, easing the interconnection of sensors, mass-memories, processing units and downlink telemetry sub-systems. It is a full-duplex, bidirectional, serial, point-to-point data link. It encodes data using two differential pairs in each direction. That is a total of eight signal wires, four in each direction.
The SpaceWire RDDP (reliable data delivery protocol) is applicable to many aerospace microelectronics devices like spacecraft systems, nano satellites (i.e. CubeSat), space cameras, OBC (On Board Computer) and embedded microcontrollers.
This IP core can operate up to the packet level in point-to-point links, without requiring any destination address.
SpaceWire IP Core has been designed all-in RTL (VHDL), without the requiring an external microprocessor or software for encoding / decoding in order to reduce the required gate & memory.

This is where TSN becomes especially relevant. TSN extends standard Ethernet with mechanisms for deterministic communication, traffic scheduling, redundancy and time-aware operation. In aerospace, these capabilities are being consolidated through the IEEE 802.1DP profile, which defines how selected TSN and IEEE 802.1 security mechanisms can be applied to onboard Ethernet networks, providing a common framework for deterministic and interoperable communication.
AeroTSN-EP has been developed with this evolution in mind. The IP Core is designed as a TSN-capable end point for FPGA-based platforms, enabling deterministic Ethernet interfaces closer to the application logic while simplifying the development of systems requiring precise timing, controlled traffic and redundancy.
AeroTSN-EP also targets DAL A compliance under DO-254, supporting safety-critical aerospace and defence applications that demand robust design, verification and traceability.
