Description
Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology is an interdisciplinary research and development organisation and a member of the Łukasiewicz Research Network. It was established in 2022 through the merger of five research institutes based in Poznań: the TABOR Rail Vehicles Institute, the Institute of Metal Forming, the Wood Technology Institute, the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing, and the Industrial Institute of Agricultural Machinery. Each of these institutions brought decades of experience and highly qualified specialists to the new organisation.
Today, this diverse range of expertise enables us to develop solutions that address the needs of the defence sector – from materials development and manufacturing technologies, through the design and production of components, to testing and solutions ready for application in infrastructure and technical systems.
Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology develops technologies and products in areas including:
• metal component manufacturing technologies, including metal forming processes using, among others, flow forming and rolling. We manufacture cartridge cases, shaped-charge liners, motor casings, nozzles and other components requiring demanding geometrical and material parameters;
• sintering and powder metallurgy, including the use of SPS (Spark Plasma Sintering) technology for the production of advanced materials and components;
• components for military vehicles, including slewing bearings designed for combat vehicle turrets;
• military transport and logistics, including the design and development of solutions for transporting heavy military equipment, such as the 37TN tank transport railcar;
• critical infrastructure protection, where we develop solutions based on digital and IoT technologies, such as Smart Plomba– a solution enabling the monitoring of infrastructure security and detection of unauthorised access attempts.
The key advantage of Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology lies in integrating expertise from multiple disciplines. Within one organisation, we combine knowledge and capabilities in materials and manufacturing technologies, mechanical and vehicle engineering, automation, electronics, digital technologies, logistics and laboratory testing.
This integrated approach allows the Institute not only to supply individual components, but also to work with partners to develop and advance complete technological solutions – from concept development and R&D, through prototyping and testing, to technology readiness for implementation and industrial production.
