Description
AVIATO is a Polish engineering team based in Wroclaw developing autonomous navigation technology for unmanned aerial systems operating in contested electromagnetic environments.

Modern battlefields increasingly rely on jamming and signal denial to disrupt unmanned systems at the exact moment they matter most. Most drone swarms depend on GPS positioning and constant communication with a ground operator. When either is disrupted, formation coordination breaks down and mission effectiveness drops sharply.

AVIATO addresses this gap with a software layer that keeps groups of unmanned aircraft coordinated and positioned accurately even after GPS is jammed and the link to the operator or cloud infrastructure is cut. The system is designed to integrate with existing commercial and defense drone platforms rather than requiring a dedicated new airframe, so operators can add this capability to fleets they already own and operate.

Instead of leaving each aircraft to solve navigation alone, the underlying approach lets aircraft within a formation support one another, improving positioning accuracy and continuity of operation across the group. If a member of the formation is lost, disabled, or disconnected, the remaining aircraft are designed to reorganize and continue the mission without operator intervention.

The company positions itself as a technology and integration partner rather than a hardware manufacturer. AVIATO does not build its own airframes. The goal is to provide an autonomy layer that platform manufacturers, systems integrators, and defense programs can adopt to extend the operational reach of unmanned systems they already produce or field.

Applications span both defense and civilian domains. In defense, the technology supports reconnaissance in electronically contested environments, last mile resupply for frontline units beyond reliable communication range, and carrier platforms for counter unmanned aircraft missions. In civilian and dual use contexts, the same capability applies to disaster response in areas with damaged infrastructure, logistics and inspection in underground or shielded environments such as mines, and medical delivery to locations cut off from normal transport routes.

AVIATO's work is led by founder Jakub Kielbasiewicz, focused on swarm navigation architecture and systems integration, together with an engineering team. The company is validating its technology through simulation and hardware testing, with a roadmap toward field validated multi drone demonstrations and pilot partnerships.
