The trainer is constructed from silicone materials with a hardness selected to mimic the tactile feel of human skin and damaged tissue.
It features seven wounds, six of which simulate active bleeding. The device includes an integrated blood control and pumping system operated via remote control.
Blood flow rates approximate physiological levels in an adult, corresponding to the anatomical course of the blood vessels.
Blood flow can be demonstrated across several scenarios:
- heart rate of 80 bpm with blood flow corresponding to the specific artery;
- heart rate of 150 bpm with significantly reduced blood flow.
The trainer allows for hemorrhage simulation from any single wound, a combination of two, or all wounds simultaneously.
It is powered by a 12V lithium-ion battery.
The device offers three methods of delivering artificial blood:
1. It features built-in reservoirs capable of holding 4 liters of artificial blood, allowing the trainer to be used in the field (without a drip tray). The internal reservoirs can be filled using the included 9-liter pressure tank.
2. Blood can also be circulated in a closed-loop system, where blood is drawn from the tray, flows out of the wounds, and then drains back into the tray via a drip grate.
3. Blood can be supplied from any external reservoir by connecting a hose (up to 3 meters long) and drawing in the artificial blood.
Skills that can be practiced:
- application of a tactical tourniquet and hemorrhage control for an amputated limb;
- femoral pulse assessment (at the groin) tailored to the scenario (80 bpm and 150 bpm);
- manual hemorrhage control and wound packing procedures (3 wounds);
- hemorrhage control using a Foley catheter.
