Description
VEGA is a Polish company operating in the defence sector, specialising in the design and production of nitrocellulose combustible components for mortar and artillery ammunition (Combustible Cartridge Cases – CCC).
The company was founded in 1997 by Lt. Col. Dr Eng. Jacek Dudziński, a researcher at the Military University of Technology in Warsaw, and for nearly 30 years has been supplying solutions to the defence industry in Poland and on international markets, including the armed forces of NATO member states.
VEGA operates its own research and development (R&D) department focused on advancing material technologies for ammunition applications. The company combines scientific and engineering expertise with extensive manufacturing experience to develop solutions tailored to the requirements of the modern battlefield.
VEGA's core business is the production of combustible cases for mortar and artillery ammunition. The company manufactures solutions fully compatible with NATO systems, as well as components for non-standard calibres used by armed forces outside the Alliance. Its portfolio includes solutions for 60 mm, 81 mm, 82 mm, 98 mm and 120 mm mortar ammunition, as well as solutions for 155 mm artillery ammunition – the principal artillery standard of today's NATO armed forces.
VEGA's combustible cases and components are characterised by high resistance to external factors, including water exposure, changing climatic conditions and mechanical loads. The products retain their operational properties within a temperature range of -50°C to +70°C, while their autoignition temperature exceeds 150°C. Compared to cases manufactured using other technologies, VEGA's nitrocellulose products offer enhanced resistance to mechanical damage. During combustion, the cases provide an additional propellant equivalent of 0.6 while leaving only minimal combustion residues in the bore and producing limited smoke emissions. Of particular value to military logistics is the fact that the products can be stored for more than 10 years without any loss of operational performance and are fully compatible with nitroglycerin-based propellants.
VEGA's technologies are developed with a strong focus on operational safety, high repeatability of ballistic performance and full compatibility with military user requirements. The company manufactures its products in accordance with stringent quality and safety standards applicable to the defence industry. VEGA holds ISO 9001:2015 and AQAP 2110:2016 certifications, while its products comply with REACH, ITAR and EAR regulations. The company's solutions are also compliant with relevant STANAG compatibility standards.
As part of its quality assurance process, VEGA cooperates with leading research institutions, including the Military Institute of Armament Technology (WITU). This enables the company to ensure high product reliability while continuously developing solutions that meet the requirements of modern ammunition programmes.
