Founded in 1976, GESTIONE SILO is a Italian manufacturer of custom precision optical components and optomechanical systems for the Space, Defense, Biomedical, Research, and Industrial sectors. Headquartered in Scandicci, near Florence, the company combines decades of expertise with continuous technological innovation to deliver high-performance, tailor-made optical solutions.
Working closely with customers from concept to production, GESTIONE SILO designs, manufactures, and integrates complex optomechanical systems, including telescopes, microscopes, spectrometers, relay optics, collimators, and Earth observation instruments. Its customer-focused approach ensures solutions that meet the most demanding technical and performance requirements.
The company manufactures a comprehensive range of custom optical components, including lenses, prisms, mirrors, filters, and optical windows, using premium optical glasses and advanced materials such as fused silica, germanium, silicon, ZnSe, ZnS, CaF₂, and MgF₂. Production capabilities include spherical, aspherical, cylindrical, parabolic, elliptical, off-axis, and free-form optics, with exceptional dimensional accuracy.
GESTIONE SILO also offers advanced thin-film coating technologies for UV, visible, NIR, and IR applications. Its in-house coating department produces high-performance anti-reflective, metallic, dielectric, dichroic, ITO, filter, and beam splitter coatings for aerospace, defense, medical, laser, and industrial markets.
Quality is ensured through state-of-the-art manufacturing, assembly, and testing facilities, including an ISO Class 5 clean room for precision integration, environmental testing capabilities, and a fully equipped metrology laboratory featuring advanced interferometric, spectrophotometric, and centering measurement systems.
To support its continued growth, GESTIONE SILO will inaugurate a new 700 m² production facility in 2026, including an advanced optical coating department equipped with three electron-beam evaporation systems with ion-assisted deposition technology and an ISO Class 6 clean room. This investment further strengthens the company's ability to provide complete, high-precision optical solutions for the world's most demanding applications.
