Plastpol – an effective tool for responding to changes in the plastics industry. See photos featuring the first day of the trade fair
In 2006, Europe was the world leader in plastics production; now, its share has fallen to just 12.3%, while China has reached 33.3% and the rest of Asia 19.7%. This is the result of high energy costs, falling demand for chemical raw materials, and excessive overregulation of the sector in the European Union.
– Such a great decline in production in Europe is surprising, especially since global production is growing. If we compare 2023 to 2018, the decrease was as much as 13.3% – noted Anna Kozera-Szałkowska, Managing Director of the PlasticsEurope Polska Foundation, at the expo-opening conference.
Poland is more resilient than the rest of Europe -
in this challenging situation, Poland is a country of remarkable resilience. 2024 delivered GDP growth, and the forecasts for the following months are optimistic. The domestic plastics processing sector, based on over 8,500 companies employing 205,000 people, is characterised by relatively stable dynamics;
Poland has achieved a share of over 6% in post-consumer recyclates from mechanical and chemical recycling, which places it among the European leaders—just behind Germany, Italy, and Spain. Importantly, with a 12 per cent share of the plastic packaging sector, our country ranks third in Europe.
Plastpol – the power of integration and innovation
In this context, Plastpol becomes a key tool for responding to market changes - this year, Targi Kielce show brought together 600 companies from 30 countries, presenting the full value chain of the sector: from raw materials, through machines and technologies, to finished products.
For four days, we will present the full spectrum of modern technologies and materials that meet the needs of the market in Kielce. Kamil Perz, Plastpol project director, emphasises that this is no longer just a machine show—it is a place where the future of the entire industry is being shaped.
This year's expo focused on energy-saving and recycling technologies: waste processing lines, bioplastics, renewable energy-powered machines, intelligent production management systems and energy recovery systems. In Kielce, the plastics industry proves that it can respond effectively, professionally, and with vision to the challenges of the modern world.
Kamil Perz, Plastpol project director, emphasises that nearly 600 companies from 30 countries will present the full spectrum of modern technologies and materials that respond to the needs and development directions in the production of plastics at Targi Kielce from 20 to 23 May. – Plastics are in every area of our lives. At these four days, we will present the entire production cycle, the full value chain, from raw materials through production lines to the finished product showcased at Targi Kielce. This is a comprehensive place for industries using plastics, from household appliances, consumer electronics, packaging, toys and children's products, automotive, electronics, construction, to medical and pharmaceutical industries. We look forward to seeing you!
