Responsibility and business can go hand in hand. OLX at the Future Pet Food Congress

23 October 2026
How do you reach pet owners and grow sales of food and accessories while also supporting adoptions and tackling puppy farming? Representatives of OLX, the online classifieds platform, explained how to combine business with responsibility on day two of the 2nd Professional Pet Food Congress, held alongside the Future Pet Food fair at Expo Kielce.

In their talk, ‘Animals and Agriculture: Responsibility and Business on OLX’, Key Account Manager Szymon Kuźnik and Senior Key Account Manager Michał Kruczkowski presented two complementary sides of the platform’s work: helping sellers grow and promoting animal welfare. Delegates heard about examples of social campaigns, data on interest in the site’s categories, and tools that pet-sector businesses can use.

The responsibility behind the listings
The OLX speakers stressed that the ‘Animals’ category demands particular care. As they explained, moderating it involves around 15,000 interventions a month. The measures discussed included tackling puppy farming and educating users through messages, notifications and in-app content.

Supporting adoption is an important part of this work. Shelters and charities can post listings free of charge, helping them reach people ready to give an animal a home. The speakers made it clear that, in this area, helping animals remains the overriding mission.

‘Nakarm Psa’ (Feed a Dog): a community that helps
The ‘Nakarm Psa’ (Feed a Dog) campaign, presented at the Congress, was held up as an example of combining social engagement with building relationships with users.

According to OLX, its latest edition drew in almost 3 million unique users in ten days, who cast nearly 13.5 million votes. The campaign raised almost PLN 200,000 for animal shelters, and 15 animals found new homes over the same period.

The speakers noted that the engagement extended well beyond the platform itself. Users and online creators spread the word, and demand for campaign merchandise, such as clothing and bags, showed that an active community was forming around the initiative. For OLX, it showed how charitable work can strengthen the brand and boost interest in the site at the same time.

Opportunities for pet food and accessory makers
The business part of the presentation looked at ways of reaching customers. According to the speakers, the ‘Animals’ category attracts more than 4 million users a month. All of them are potential customers for food, treats and accessories for dogs, cats and other pets.

The OLX team highlighted the importance of describing products precisely. An expanding set of listing fields, such as brand, product type, weight and animal size, is designed to make it easier for buyers to find the right product. For sellers, they make it easier to reach people looking for specific items.

The talk also covered the features of business accounts, including a dedicated company page on the site with a logo, banner and shop details. The speakers pointed out that listings can drive both online and mail-order sales and footfall to bricks-and-mortar shops.

Turning listings into ads
A separate part of the talk was devoted to OLX Ads and adverts generated automatically from existing listings. The tool was presented as a time-saver for businesses with a large product range and little time to prepare separate advertising material.

The speakers explained how listings are automatically selected for promotion. According to the presentation, an algorithm analyses how listings have performed so far and picks out those with the greatest sales potential to appear in sponsored slots.

In the example given, campaigns in the ‘Food and treats’ category generated 2,405 clicks in the previous month. The figures showed real interest in promoted listings: each click lets a user take a closer look at the product and move a step closer to contacting the seller.

From local trade to specialist markets
The presentation also covered the ‘Agriculture’ category, which brings together sellers of farm produce, machinery, parts and equipment. The OLX team emphasised the importance of local reach, seasonal demand and direct contact between buyer and seller.

They also noted that the platform has room for well-known brands and smaller specialist businesses alike. For the latter, well-prepared listings and prompt replies to enquiries can be the foundation for winning customers and growing the business.

Expertise and business know-how at Expo Kielce
The OLX talk was part of day two of the 2nd Professional Pet Food Congress, organised by Gemini Group and held alongside the Future Pet Food fair. Both events are taking place at the Expo Kielce Congress Centre on 22 and 23 October 2026.

International Expo of Pet Food, Ingredients, Technology and Distribution, brings together makers of pet food and treats, suppliers of raw materials and technology, and retailers.
