PGNIG AND MPK SIGNED THE LETTER INTENT AT TRANSEXPO
PGNiG Retail signed a letter of intent with Municipal Transport Company in Kielce on construction of a nationwide CNG re-filling station infrastructure to become operational by the end of 2019. This development is related to the plans of MPK, according to which 60 eco-powered buses powered with natural CNG gas will hit the streets of Kielce by 2025.
Under the agreement, PGNiG Retail expressed its will to build a nationwide CNG re-fuelling stations network by the end of 2019. These will also serve public transport vehicles in Kielce. MPK in Kielce intends to buy 60 CNG vehicles by 2020 and thus attain the result of 30% share in low-emission buses, many of which will be fuelled with CNG.
- We actively support the development of Poland’s gas-mobility which is why we are pleased that Kielce will join the group of cities which are bold in embracing ecological issues and therefore introduce CNG powered buses. The market development dynamics is very high, because next year the fleet of gas buses will increase from 400 to 600 vehicles in all Poland. This is proof that Polish cities opt for clean transport fuelled with ecological solutions - natural gas - stressed Henryk Mucha, President of PGNiG Retail, one of the signatories of the letter.
The letter of intent was signed during the XIV International Fair of Public Transport TRANSEXPO in Kielce. On behalf of PGNiG Retail the letter was signed by its President Henryk Mucha and Vice President Marcin Szczudło. The President of Kielcach Municipal Transport Company Elżbieta Śreniawska, President of the Board of MPK in Kielce was the co-signer.

fare the optimal solution for our city because of ecological and economic reasons. Cooperation with PGNiG will guarantee safe and secure delivery of environmentally friendly fuels - said Elżbieta Śreniawska, President of the Board of MPK in Kielce.
Polish cities appreciate the economic benefits associated with the use of buses which run on CNG. The 100 km cost is 10% lower than in the case of a diesel powered bus. In addition, in the coming years savings may increase by another 20%, due to the planned abolition of CNG natural gas excise tax for road transport purposes. The relevant law has already been signed by the President of Poland in August 2018 and is currently awaiting approval of the European Commission.
- CNG powered buses are ecological and quiet, prefect for urban environment. It is a mature technology that guarantees long-term trouble-free operation and a large range of up to 500 kilometres. Polish cities often decide to choose this vehicles type because their price is comparable to buses which run on diesel, yet emissions are significantly lower - concluded Marcin Szczudło, Vice President of PGNiG Retail.
According to the data, replacement of diesel-powered rolling stock for CNG buses allows for a significant reduction of emissions: nitrogen oxides up to 50%, carbon dioxide up to approx. 15% and PM dusts up to 99%.
