Ministry of Agriculture, agricultural advisory centers, producers of regional delicacies at the SlowTravel Show
Many visitors learn about health and agritourism. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund and the National Support Centre for Agriculture’s activities were in the spotlight. First aid demonstrations and exercises for everyone; ladies from rural women's associations invited by KOWR treat people to delicacies, including pierogi.
- Many people ask us about the possibility of rehabilitation. Children who accompany their parents to our stand are very keen to take part in competitions, for example, on knowledge about safe work on the farm, says Marta Ponikowska, head of the Department of Prevention, Rehabilitation and Medical Certification at the Kielce branch of KRUS. Experts from the institution also provide information on the principles of social insurance for farmers and preventive measures, while KOWR promotes initiatives supporting short food supply chains.
With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, SlowTravel also features agricultural advisory centers from different parts of the country, which invited farms offering unique regional delicacies to participate. ODR specialists provide advice on modern cultivation technologies, ecology, and the development of rural tourism as an additional source of income for farms. Present are the Świętokrzyski Agricultural Advisory Centre in Modliszewice, the Warmian-Masurian Agricultural Advisory Centre based in Olsztyn, the Silesian Agricultural Advisory Centre in Częstochowa and the Małopolska Agricultural Advisory Centre based in Karniowice.
In turn, representatives of agricultural farms conducting retail trade offer various delicacies—from cold meats to cheeses, honey and fruit preserves, and clothing and pillows made of alpaca wool.
The presence of the Ministry and key agricultural institutions at the Slow Travel fair highlights the importance of an integrated approach to rural development – combining financial support, health promotion, tourism and consumer awareness.
