Minister Siekierski: Targi Kielce responds to the challenges of modern times
– Targi Kielce’s good tradition - for 30 years we have hosted Mr. Czesław Siekierski in various roles, today, for the second time, as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development – said the president of the centre, Dr. Andrzej Mochoń, to the guest, thanking him for his presence and cooperation within SlowTravel.
He explained, this event refers to the long-standing tradition of Agrotravel related to rural tourism at the expo centre. - I will reveal that the Minister and I have plans to increase the scope of this event and attract people from all over Poland and abroad – noted Doctor Andrzej Mochoń. The next SlowTravel will return more strongly to the Agrotravel tradition and will focus on niche, slower, non-mass tourism. An international conference on the development of rural areas in the aspect of tourism is in the pipeline.
- Targi Kielce is my place, not only in the official sphere, but also privately - this is my favourite place due to the value of this exhibition centre’s activities in the Świętokrzyskie region, with which I have been associated all my life—admitted the Minister of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski.
Targi Kielce - the space of modern ideas and traditions
Minister Siekierski visited the exhibitions and visited the stands of the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Centre for Agriculture Support, the Farmers' Social Security Fund, as well as agricultural advisory centres from across the country. He also watched with interest the presentations of vineyards, farms offering local food products and producers of beekeeping supplies.
- Trade fais are not just about promotion, they are important for creating value, new business ideas, but not only that. Targi Kielce hosts exhibitions serving various industrial sectors – from defence, through agriculture, to health, tourism and agritourism; this expo activity influences not only the development of the region, but also the land in a broader sense, the land of the whole of Poland – emphasised Minister Siekierski. - Targi Kielce has become an important place for the country, also in a supranational and supranational context; exhibitors and visitors from various countries come here, present offers, and execute commercial contracts. I am impressed with the ideas for these events, especially the surprising ones. I congratulate the President and the employees on such a well-thought-out activity. You also need to be able to enter new areas that are not always fully explored to organise good events and do good business. Today's trade fair connects many areas; beekeeping in a very broad sense, an area related to home decoration, others related to health, as well as tourism and campers. Dialogue in the rural areas is the key to sustainable development
Minister Siekierski drew attention to the countryside's importance in Poland's social structure—40 percent of the country's population lives in rural areas, but only 10 percent earn their living directly from agriculture. – Thus the expo proposals showing different possibilities of functioning of rural areas are so valuable. We constantly remember that the countryside is a place of agricultural production, and we must act to reconcile the interests of rural residents who are not always connected with agriculture and are bothered by the smells and sounds of agricultural production. If there is dialogue, these problems will be solved, the Minister of Agriculture noted.
Minister Siekierski: - Biosecurity will affect the quality of poultry farming
At Sunday's press conference at Targi Kielce, Minister Czesław Siekierski also referred to the rigors introduced in connection with the production and breeding of poultry. - Poland is the largest poultry producer in Europe, third in the world, he noted. – The requirements introduced are not new; a number of producers, intensifying poultry production to increase profitability, have introduced a system that somewhat violates welfare conditions and biosecurity. Hence the entire system of activities aimed at increasing compliance with welfare and biosecurity requirements. On the surface, this seems like a burden for producers, but it will translate into fewer diseases in the herds and better meat quality. The rules introduction will bring benefits, explained Minister Siekierski. - So if we want to maintain such a scale of export and consumption of poultry and eggs in Poland, we strive to ensure that all farms meet food safety standards - we want to improve the quality of production on ongoing basis.
