Energy storage is the key to energy security. 28th ENEX trade fair welcomes experts, and the government representatives outlined the future of the Polish energy sector at Targi Kielce
The 28th International Power Industry and Renewable Sources of Energy Fair ENEX’s agenda included a conference of the Voivodeship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Kielce, entitled: "Energy storage – savings and safety". The conference also marked the tenth anniversary of the energy advisory program. It was held under the honorary patronage of the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, and the Minister of Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloski.
He welcomed the guests, Jacek Skórski, President of the Management Board of the Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Kielce, who noted the increase in the pace of processing applications – from approximately 500 per month to over 2,500. In January and February of this year alone, over 5,600 applications were assessed. – Our goal is to clear the procedural backlog by the end of March completely – he announced.
An important point of the conference was the speech of Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Anita Sowińska, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry, who emphasised the strategic role of energy storage facilities in the modern energy system.
– Today, energy storage is synonymous with responsibility. Responsibility for the security of the system, for the stability of household accounts, for the competitiveness of the Polish economy and for the climate. It is an investment that brings double benefits: savings and safety. – emphasized the deputy minister.
As she pointed out, energy transformation is no longer a choice but a necessity, and energy storage is one of its most important pillars. Prosumer energy is developing dynamically in Poland – currently, there are over 1.6 million prosumers, whose installations account for nearly 35 per cent of the country's renewable energy capacity.
The development of energy storage is crucial for the further growth of this sector. – Energy storage is no longer an add-on, but a necessary element for the further dynamic development of renewable energy sources. – noted Anita Sowińska.
The Ministry of Climate and Environment is focusing on increasing the self-consumption of energy from renewable sources and relieving the power grid by developing energy storage facilities at prosumer installations. As the deputy minister noted, by the end of 2025, approximately 100,000 energy storage facilities will be in place, and at the current assembly rate – approximately 8,000 a month – it is realistic to achieve 200,000 installations by 2027, and perhaps even earlier.
Conference participants emphasised that the development of energy storage technologies will be one of the most important elements in building a modern, stable and secure energy system in Poland.
The conference at Targi Kielce was an opportunity to exchange experiences between local governments, public administration and the energy industry, and to discuss the future of distributed energy and renewable energy sources in Poland.
