Electric or hybrid vehicle? An electrifying discussion in the YouTubers' Zone during the Enex Expo
Waldemar Dąbkowski – Heat Pump and PV, Tomasz Żyłka – Tomasz Żyłka PV, Sławomir – Photovoltaic Panels, Michał – Na Prąd po Polskę, Piotr – Eko Niezbędnik and Kamil – Kup Elektryka in the YouTubers Zone during the Enex fair do not spare knowledge and controversial opinions. During the Electromobility vs hybrids in 2026 discussion, they exchanged arguments about what was worth investing in and which car was the most profitable to drive.
Just a few years ago, the choice was simple – cars with internal combustion engines dominated. Today, more and more drivers are wondering whether an electric car or a hybrid is a better solution. The development of technology, the growing number of charging stations and changing operating costs make the decision no longer obvious.
Experts emphasised that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. What is crucial is how and where we use the car. A person who mainly travels around the city has different needs than a driver who covers hundreds of kilometres every day.
Electric means lower operating costs.
As Michał said – Na Prąd po Polskę, electric cars convince primarily with their operating costs. In many cases, charging your car at home, especially at night, can be much cheaper than filling up with gas. Drivers are increasingly using their own photovoltaic installations, which further reduces energy costs.
User examples show that at high mileage, the savings can be significant. Drivers who drive up to 50,000 kilometres a year emphasise that energy costs are many times lower than those of combustion cars.
An additional advantage of electric cars is driving comfort: the quiet operation of the motor, the lack of vibrations, and the immediate response to the accelerator pedal mean that many drivers, after switching to an electric car, do not want to return to traditional drives.
Until recently, the argument against electric cars was the availability of infrastructure. Meanwhile, there are already over 11,000 public charging points in Poland, yet their use remains relatively low.
Statistics show that charger occupancy is only around 10 per cent, meaning that in most cases, drivers have no problem accessing chargers. In practice, charging at a fast station usually takes 20 to 30 minutes – roughly the same as an average stop for a coffee or meal on the road.
Hybrid – a compromise for the undecided
For many, hybrid remains an attractive solution. These vehicles combine a combustion engine with an electric motor, reducing fuel consumption while eliminating the need for charging infrastructure. Hybrids are particularly well-suited for urban driving, where part of the driving is done in electric mode. As Waldemar Dąbkowski said, heat pumps and PV also provide a sense of security to drivers who are concerned about the limited range of electric cars.
The decision depends on your driving style.
Experts emphasise that the choice between an electric car and a hybrid should, above all, be a rational calculation. You need to take into account the annual mileage, the possibility of charging the car at home, how the car will be used (in the city or on the highway), and the purchase and operating costs.
In many cases, an electric car is the most cost-effective option for people who drive a lot and can charge at home. In turn, the hybrid remains a more universal solution for drivers who do not want to give up the combustion engine completely.
The car market is changing very dynamically today. Technology prices are declining, the number of charging points is growing, and manufacturers are introducing increasingly advanced models. One thing is certain: the era of electromobility has already begun. However, the answer to the question “electric or hybrid” remains a matter of individual choice. - Every driver must find a solution best suited to their needs - said the participants. However, the vast majority of them indicated an electric car as a family car, as well as for driving around the city and for long journeys.
The next round of arguments will take place in the YouTuber Zone on Thursday, 5 March, in Expo Hall 3 of Targi Kielce. From 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., experts will discuss the following topics:
- Off-grid and energy independence – further in practice
- PSTRYK dynamic tariffs and energy storage
- Home heating – how to manage it sensibly?
- Electromobility – future or decline?
