Do we have the dog we want, or the dog we need? Anna Skweres to speak at the Expo Kielce dog show

30 October 2026
On 28 and 29 November 2026, dog lovers will once again descend on Expo Kielce for DUO CACIB Kielce, the 25th and 26th International Pedigree Dog Show. New this year is an expert stage, where specialists will help visitors better understand their four-legged friends. Among the guest speakers will be Anna Skweres, a behaviourist, canine educator and long-standing breeder of pedigree dogs, who will talk about the remarkable bond between people and their dogs.

Two days of canine excitement at Expo Kielce

Every year, DUO CACIB Kielce draws breeders, exhibitors and dog enthusiasts from Poland and abroad. Over the two days, the exhibition halls will be home to a wide range of breeds, from small companion dogs and energetic working breeds to imposing mastiff types and primitive breeds.

Decorated champions will take to the show rings alongside young dogs just starting out on their show careers. There will be competitions, special displays and spectacular Best in Show finals to crown the finest dogs at the show.

Visitors will also be able to talk to breeders in person, learn about the traits of individual breeds and pick up useful advice on choosing a canine companion.

‘We don’t get the dog we want, we get the dog we need’: a talk by Anna Skweres

This year’s show gains a new dimension with an expert stage, featuring specialists in canine behaviour, grooming and everyday care.

One of the speakers will be Anna Skweres, a behaviourist, canine educator and long-standing breeder of pedigree dogs. In her talk, ‘We don’t get the dog we want, we get the dog we need’, she will invite the audience to reflect on how we build relationships with our animals.

When choosing a dog, we are often swayed by looks, by our image of a particular breed, or by what we expect from our future companion. Day-to-day life, however, has a way of putting those plans to the test. A dog has its own temperament, its own needs and its own way of expressing emotions, and living together means getting to know one another.

Can we tell the difference between what we expect and what the dog actually needs? Why do we find some of our dog’s behaviour so hard to deal with? And how can we build a relationship based on understanding, rather than trying to make the animal fit our own expectations?

The talk will appeal both to experienced owners and to those who are only just thinking of welcoming a dog into the family.

Dog show, shopping and practical advice under one roof

The new expert stage will add talks on responsible pet care to the programme. As well as admiring the dogs in the ring, visitors will be able to hear from specialists and pick up tips on everyday life with a dog.

Running alongside the show will be the 14th ZOO Salon, a pet trade fair showcasing food, accessories, grooming and care products, and other supplies for pets. It is a chance to see what pet industry companies have to offer and discover products that make life easier for pet owners.

With international show competition, meetings with breeders, a pet trade fair and expert talks all on the bill, the November event will appeal not only to dog show enthusiasts but to the whole family.

DUO CACIB Kielce, the 25th and 26th International Pedigree Dog Exhibition, and ZOO Salon will take place at Expo Kielce on 28–29 November 2026.

A detailed timetable for the expert stage will be published ahead of the event.

Some dogs are instantly recognisable, while others make us instinctively reach for our phones during a walk to check: “What breed is that?” The world of pedigree dogs is far more diverse than it might seem. In Poland, alongside the familiar Labradors, Shepherds and Maltese, there are representatives of breeds whose names are rarely heard in everyday life. A pedigree dog show is one of the few opportunities to see such diversity gathered in one place.
