Africa - Polish cosmetics’ export direction
According to the Polish Investment and Trade Agency data, the import of products such as perfumery, cosmetics and household chemicals was one of the leading cooperation fields in Morocco in 2020. The export totalled to over USD 24.5 billion. Morocco is a politically stable, business-friendly country and has Africa's largest transshipment port, TangerMed - this is one of the maind decission making factors. The same report shows a double-digit increase in the import of Polish cosmetics in recent years, resulting from the middle class development and changes in the society’s habits.
The situation is similar in Tunisia and Algeria, parts of the society follows European trends in many sectors of the economy, including the beauty sector. The young African population and rapidly growing economies of the region, combined with increasing technological advances, drive the cosmetics sales. The African cosmetics and personal care market continues to show flexibility, despite the tough economic conditions in the region, analysts say. European companies involved in the production of cosmetics are boldly expanding into the African markets, opening their stores in large cities, most often in North Africa.
