SML is a manufacturing company specialising in plastics processing machinery and a global market and technology leader in manufacturing high-end extrusion lines.
Products manufactured on machinery from SML range from packaging films to textile yarns and from medical applications to laminates and compounds. Moreover, SML manufactures machines for the production of special films for optical applications and separator films for batteries.

Triplex Coating and Laminating Line
SML’s innovative Triplex coating and laminating line is especially designed to produce aseptic cardboard packaging for the food and beverage industry. Complex composite carton structures with co-extruded barrier film or aluminium are manufactured in one simple and cost-effective process. Main characteristics of SML’s Triplex line are the precise, inhouse developed control system, the simple operability and the strong dimensioning of the line. The robust setup guarantees long lifetimes, especially with regard to the use of heavy cardboard grammages.
Generally, the Triplex line handles thin paper as well as rigid paperboard at an equally high quality. Easy accessibility to key engine parts and short ramp-up and ramp-down times raise line effectiveness significantly.

FlexPack extrusion coating and laminating line
FlexPack is SML's well-proven concept which raises the bar for flexibility and simplicity in extrusion coating and lamination. The lines were specifically engineered for the dynamic packaging market but found its place also for hygiene and technical applications. The modular design means that even highly complex lines can be created with relative ease. Key characteristics of SML FlexPack are efficient production processes, minimum floor space, quick and simple product changes and, above all, high profitability.

PET Sheet Lines
SML’s high-performance PET sheet lines are well established on the market for decades and offer a reasonable balance between proven technologies, technical innovation and cost-effective production. High levels of visual appearance, maximum transparency, a perfect thickness, and recyclability are key characteristics of products manufactured on SML sheet lines. Foamed PET sheet offers new possibilities for hot-fill thermoforming applications with minimum weight.
As the only premium supplier worldwide, SML offers all three extrusion concepts: ClassicPET – single screw extrusion, FlexiPET twin screw extrusion, and RecyPET – recycling extrusion. PP sheet lines
PP sheet lines
SML’s PP sheet lines are designed for the cost-efficient production of thermoforming applications like cups, lids, trays and blister packs at large numbers. With the inline and offline solutions provided by SML, both thermoforming companies and sheet manufacturers have the optimum tool to achieve high quality results in the final packaging product. SML’s lines for thermoforming sheet are fitted with high-speed extruders (HSE) or HO-LT (High Output – Low Temperature) extrusion technology, developed in-house at SML.

SML is an established market and technology leader at extrusion lines for stretch wrap film for any type of application, e.g., in logistics, transportation and packaging. As the only premium supplier, SML covers all standard film widths from 1,5 to 6m. For a wide range of different products, layer numbers at SML’s stretch film lines reach from 3 to 67. They are fitted with the latest extrusion systems, specific chill rolls with sizable diameters, and highly advanced inline winders. SML’ stretch film lines mainly consists of pre-configured modules, which can be highly customized for specific requirements.

Austrofil Vertex spinning line
SML’s Austrofil VERTEX continuous filament line is specially designed to produce partially oriented (POY) or fully drawn (FDY) yarns. Optimised for PET processing, the VERTEX concept ensureshigh output in the titre range of 50–1,200 den. A sophisticated thread guiding system enables high line speeds.
