Łukasiewicz – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals has been constructing, developing and modernizing Polish non-ferrous industry for over 70 years. In the scope of activities undertaken in Łukasiewicz - IMN there are, among others research projects also for defence and security area focused on: technology of thermal and special batteries; hybrid power source for special vehicles, power source for manned and unmanned aircraft, autonomous unmanned platforms, security systems and smart weapons, technology of flexible PV coating, light modular armor, modified heavy alloys for armor-piercing shells; 3D printing for armament .Besides defense and security projects, researchers at Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals take on challenges related to treatment of non-ferrous metal ores and other mineral raw materials, pyro- and hydrometallurgical methods of recovering metals from ores and concentrates, waste management, material engineering, alloy and metal treatment, environmental protection, metal chemistry, energy storage and e-mobility.
