VITA 66 compact connectors
VITA 66 compact connectors
Vita66 defines a compact optical connector that allows for the connection of optical modules to electronic
cards.
VITA 66 connectors are typically used in one application such as Backplane Connections inside of a rack mountable chassis. VITA 66 connectors link the plugged-in cards to the backplane PCB of a VPX chassis.

The standard VITA 66.1 and 66.4 are designed for standard MT ferrules with physical contact.
The Nicomatic version of VITA 66.1 and 66.4 have been developed to integrate an expanded beam MT ferrule.

- Spring loaded MT ferrule
Main functions:
- Precise ferrules alignment inside the cavity before connection
- 9.8N ferrules compression
Backplane design:
- Aluminum bodies
- Stainless steel screws and guides
- Floating insert
Main functions:
- Floating of 0.5mm to compensate for system backlash
- Guiding and re-alignment of the connectors before the ferrules mating
