Description
Driven by a passion for sport, health, and family, we created MUFFIK sensory mats—reflecting our desire for a healthier world in which people can move freely and without pain. Whether you are a child discovering the world, an adult seeking relief after a long day, or a dog undergoing rehabilitation, our mats offer joy, support, and therapy.
Our little ones as our main motivation
Our children were the main inspiration behind the creation of the sensory mats. As enthusiastic athletes and new parents, in 2016 we decided to establish a sports and movement school for two-year-olds. Over time, we began to notice certain irregularities in the youngest children. Knocked ankles and knees, the “W-sitting” position, collapsed foot arches, or flat feet lead to weakened core muscles, separation of the rectus abdominis, poor movement patterns, and incorrect posture. That is why we asked ourselves: “What can we do about it?” Together with my physiotherapist colleagues, we considered how to strengthen ankles and knees while simultaneously reinforcing the core.
Thirty percent of children under the age of six have a developmental foot defect. In adulthood, 50% of the population has foot deformities. What is the cause?
The main factor is a lack of stimuli that support proper development. Podiatrists and physiotherapists encourage walking barefoot on a variety of surfaces. Even the very first contact with a mat shapes your child’s foot arch. This affects their entire physiological development. The diversity of surfaces they walk on is crucial for forming the arch and strengthening muscle tone in the lower limbs and the core. Hard, soft, cold, warm, spiky, flat, or protruding surfaces all play a role.
MUFFIK sensory mats introduce the healthy habit of walking barefoot into your home.
Thanks to the multitude of natural surfaces with varying hardness and colors, you can take a walk through the forest—for example, while brushing your teeth in the bathroom. The stimulating and balancing elements of the mats not only prevent flat feet, collapsed arches, and valgus deformities of the ankles and knees, but also very effectively alleviate and eliminate existing problems. Sensory mats are designed not only for children; they also work wonderfully for adults. The diverse surfaces stimulate the feet and strengthen the arches, lower-limb muscles, and the core.
Reflexive massage while walking on the mats lowers blood pressure, helping to reduce tension and stress.
By stimulating specific points on the soles of the feet, we can positively influence the function of internal organs, the nervous system, glands, and the musculoskeletal system, thereby harmonizing both physical and mental processes. In seniors, walking on sensory mats reduces the clotting and viscosity of red blood cells, which are major factors in cardiovascular diseases (heart, blood vessels, veins). This leads to better perception of the terrain and improved overall body balance, helping to prevent dangerous falls.
