Łukasz Kacprzak from the Polish Investment and Geodetic Consortium says that drones are useful at every stage of the investment project and design.

- It is obvious to use the technique at the design and orthophotomap stage -  however, the data collected by UAV are also helpful later. One of the most interesting examples is the use of photos obtained in this way for social consultations;  residents of an area can see what the final effect will look like and how the works will be carried out on an ongoing basis. Visualization comes in aid.

The possibility for the designer or a surveyor to check whether the works are proceeding according to plan is yet another aspect. This is comfortable, because after the construction start, the site is closed, and thus control is much more difficult. An example offered during the lecture related to the Central Transport Hub.

IDE discussions featured the use of drones for laser scanning, the technology particularly useful when creating complex projects such as power engineering infrastructure.
