Helicopters plethora at MSPO 2022

30 august 2022
The 2022 International Defence Industry Exhibition commences on Tuesday, 6 September - the expo promises to be a record-breaking event regarding the aviation equipment on display. As many as nine aircraft will land at Targi Kielce, and eight will be presented to the public.

Most of the helicopters arrive in Kielce on Saturday, 3 September. Undoubtedly the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey is the magnet and attention catcher - this is the only serial convertiplane for vertical and short take-off and landing. These machines can take off like a helicopter, but then fly like a classic aeroplane;  they are used for the rapid transfer of troops, incl. US Marines and Special Forces. The V-22 Osprey will land on the Kielce landing strip for only a few dozen minutes,  ai it is used to transport the equipment presented at the MSPO. After unloading, the helicopter returns to the base.

Two premieres of the Defence Expo - AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom

Two American contenders running for  billion-PLN worth contract under the "Kruk" program -  assault Boeing AH-64 Apache and Bell AH-1Z Viper. The first one has landed at Targi Kielce many times; the Viper has never been presented in our country. The exhibition will also feature the multi-purpose Bell UH-1Y Venom, a machine that shares many elements with Viper. This is also presented at MSPO for the first time.

MSPO’s extensive list

The initial schedule shows that the vast majority of machines will land at Targi Kielce on Saturday. The arrival of the Boeing AH-64 Apache attack aircraft, the Boeing CH-47 Chinook heavy carrier, and the multi-purpose Black Hawk from Mielec are scheduled to arrive on that day, too. On Friday, 2 September, the light Robinson R-44 from the Military Aviation Academy is to arrive. On Sunday, 5 September, two Italian helicopters are to arrive - the AW109 Trekker light helicopter and the medium AW139M helicopter from Świdnik.
