It was from 22 to 27% that Targi Kielce’s share in Poland’s exhibition market increased during the year of an economic slump, while the share being in possession of the market leader, i.e. the MTP exhibition centre (Poznań International Fair) decreased from almost 50% to slightly over 43%. The fair organizer from Kielce reached the top of the Polish Trade Fair Corporation report 2009.

Established in 1992, the Targi Kielce company was continuously increasing its market share to eventually become one of the two largest players on the domestic exhibition market and the most rapidly growing trade fair centre in Poland. Not long ago, in 2002, the company’s market share amounted to only 9.5%, in 2006 it was 19%, and in 2008 it reached 22%. This index currently amounts to 27%.

Throughout last year, which was a difficult period for the Polish economy, the Kielce fair organizer rented out 155,500 square metres of exhibition space, a less than 1% decrease on 2008, while the volume of exhibition space sold by the MTP company decreased by 30%. “We recorded a slight, only 2.6%, decline in the number of exhibitors, though our trade fairs enjoyed a 9% higher visitor attendance level,” says president of the management board of Targi Kielce, Andrzej Mochoń. “This year will also be difficult for the exhibition industry, with adverse effects of the economic slowdown lingering on, though the beginning of the spring season in our exhibition centre was an impressive success indeed. The International Fair of Agricultural Techniques Agrotech, which was held in March, will probably be Poland’s largest fair event organized this year. An exhibition space of 40,000 square metres was used by 500 exhibitors, while the number of visitors amounted to 40,000.
