Compared to last year's catalogues which contained 800 exhibitors and was published in the form of the book which can be compared to a thick novel, the first PLASTPOL expo catalogue was more like a volume of short stories. The 60 companies marked their expo presence. The first edition was held from 23 to 25 October 1997. The expo name - International Fair of Plastics and Rubber Processing was also coined then.

At the first edition the stands were set up in a semi-circle in just one part expo hall. It is worth noting that the upcoming, jubilee edition will showcase plastics processing and rubber industries in 7 halls.  Some companies present at the début PLASTPOL  edition in 1997 have become a permanent part of the expo.
