Drones as the future of the Central Office of Measures
Drones, the heroes of the international event, have been used in science for years and have a wide range of applications; now, unmanned aerial vehicles are used by uniformed services to conduct observations and surveillance, public benefit institutions to ensure control and compliance with applicable standards. The Central Office of Measures, the institution responsible for measurement coherence in Poland, may in the near future, use drones to carry out its statutory activities and take measurements.
- UAV implementation for measurements purposes is associated not only with devices production and provision for measurements purposes, but also with the introduction of legal regulations, validation of measurement results and their subsequent use in practice - says the Director-General of the Office, Piotr Ziółkowski.
Soon, UAV may become the basic tool used in such sectors as: geodesy, environmental protection or health care. The right software will make it possible for UAVto take detailed measurements at a much faster pace.
- GUM constantly analyses and monitors the latest technological solutions. Wherever various types of measurements are made, e.g. on production lines, in road transport, etc., there is the presence of the Central Office of Measures, which verifies and confirms the authenticity of measurements. In the future, we would like to use the Campus of the Central Office of Measures, which is being built in Kielce, becoming the basis for testing specific measurement solutions which make use of UAV- adds Piotr Ziółkowski, Director General of the Office.
The International Drone Event - World Measurements is a meeting of many stakeholders. The agenda abounds with interesting lectures and speeches. The event participants are offered the chance to learn about new, surprising possibilities of using drones in the modern world.
