On the first day of the AUTOSTRADA-POLSKA trade fair the outdoor exhibition area will be the presentation platform for all the utility vehicles which are competing for this year’s title of the Delivery Van of the Year.

Every year the European business sector pres chooses the International Utility Car of the Year; this year the title is awarder already for the third time. Poland’s four leading publishing houses of the transport sector collectively chose the best utility car of the year available on Polish market. The jury panel is composed of the representatives of Ciężarówki (Trucks), Polski Traker, Samochody Specjalne (Special Utility Vehicle) and VANekstra magazines in cooperation with the 4Trucks portal and Bravo Television Studio. The panel is complemented with professional delivery vehicle drivers who also have their say.

Potential winners are selected from among the same category of vehicles. This year’s wagons belong to the category of 3,5 tons of registered gross weight, in their extra large versions with regards to capacity; they are also equipped with Euro 5 engines. The most state-of-the-art vehicles in their class which offer the highest efficiency will be put to the test. Fully loaded vehicles are to cover the same distance; the distance is long enough to consume as much fuel as possible; the cars start the test with a full tank. The yellow refuel light provides the signal for the driver to call in the nearest fuel station; upon refuelling the consumption is then calculated. This is one of the most important indicators in the competition.

The contest has been designed to chose the best utility vehicle which would serve the purpose of small and medium sized companies. The company which is presented with the accolade is then allowed to use the Delivery Van of the Year for the following year.

The winners until now: Fiat Doblo Cargo (2010 r.) and ex aequo Citroen Berlingo and Peugeot Boxer (2011 r.).

BP is the competition sponsor; the company also provides fuel for the contest vehicles.
