A joint message for the road engineering business sector
The global crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic outbreak triggered a number of restrictions, these also regard road transport business sector. The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways data shows that there has been a noticeable change in the traffic structure. Passenger car traffic has decreased significantly, while truck and delivery truck traffic has only slightly changed its volume. Road transport is the main and most important way to deliver the necessary goods, food and services indispensable for the citizens' fight against the disease. Roads ensure that the supply of necessary goods (food, medicine, medical equipment…) keep on being timely and properly delivered to the population, also guaranteeing mobility for emergency services (ambulances, fire brigades, technical urgent interventions and assistance).
Roads are the binding link for us all and in these uncertain times, all the road infrastructure actors (authorities, operatives, contractors, suppliers…) are also on the front line to provide citizens with all the services they need and require. Thus the Solidarity Message from European Union Road Federation ERF: Roads Unite Us All.
