Description
VIGO Photonics is a Polish technology company and a global leader in the manufacture of semiconductor materials and components for photonic and microelectronic applications. The company specializes in the production of epitaxial layers, infrared detectors, and detection modules operating in the 1–25 µm spectral range. It operates state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Poland and the USA.
Through complete control over the entire in-house value chain – from the epitaxy of II-VI and III-V group materials to final electronic integration – VIGO maintains total oversight of the manufacturing process. This enables full product customization to meet specific customer requirements, rigorous quality control, and continuous monitoring of performance parameters at every stage of production. Advanced R&D laboratories and a certified Quality Management System (ISO 9001) guarantee the highest levels of reliability and repeatability. The technical reliability of VIGO’s technology has been proven in the most extreme environments, including NASA’s Curiosity rover mission on Mars.
VIGO Photonics products are utilized in gas analysis and thermal detection across the industrial, transportation, and defense sectors. In military applications, the technology meets strict environmental and durability standards, delivering critical components for:
• Surveillance, reconnaissance, and early threat detection (day/night and in adverse weather conditions).
• Laser warning systems.
• Smart seeker heads for missiles and guided munitions.
• Counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) and high-performance infrared imaging.
VIGO Photonics has reached world-class excellence in the development of focal plane arrays (FPAs) for mid-wave (MWIR) and long-wave (LWIR) infrared bands. Its flagship achievement is a cooled T2SL technology matrix featuring a 640 × 512 resolution with a 15 μm pixel pitch. The detector's specialized design ensures seamless mechanical and thermal integration into target systems, enabling the development of compact, energy-efficient, and highly reliable imaging systems for both mobile combat platforms and stationary defense setups.
The company is also actively conducting research and development on photonic integrated circuits (PICs). This initiative aims to commercialize VIGO’s advanced technology on a mass scale, paving the way for its deployment in consumer products as well as defense sector applications.
