Description
MIAT responds to the dynamic challenges of today’s defense industry. The Institute not only conducts research and testing of vehicles introduced into the Polish Armed Forces but also actively participates in their modernization. Among its flagship projects are the autonomous vehicles KUNA and TAREO, which mark a new chapter in the evolution of unmanned military systems. These achievements demonstrate that MIAT is not just following global trends – it is helping to shape them.
A unique asset of the Institute is the Wisła Research and Testing Center, one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in Europe. It enables comprehensive testing of vehicles and systems under real-world conditions using state-of-the-art measurement technologies. The Center has significantly expanded the Institute’s testing capabilities, positioning (MIAT) as a key partner for both the defense and civilian industries – from design and development, through testing, to certification.
The scope of the Institute’s activities includes:
• scientific research in mechanics, transportation, and materials engineering,
• development and implementation of new designs for land and amphibious vehicles, including autonomous and hybrid systems,
• creation and application of testing methodologies for military and prototype equipment,
• determining MLC classification for vehicles,
• specialized technical expertise and support for public institutions,
• product certification, standardization, and compliance assessments,
• participation in national and international R&D projects.
MIAT operates three accredited laboratories, a Product Certification Unit, an Expert Bureau, and employs a team of highly qualified specialists. This makes it a true hub of knowledge and technology, open to cooperation with universities, research institutions, and industry partners.
The Institute is not only about tradition and experience – it is above all about innovation and vision for the future. With autonomous vehicles KUNA and TAREO, the development of next-generation propulsion systems, and cutting-edge testing at the Wisła Center, MIAT is actively shaping the future of military mobility and national security.
Military Institute of Armoured and Automotive Technology – the power of technology that supports defense today and builds security for tomorrow.
