Description
Polish Space Agency (POLSA) – established in 2014 as an executive agency of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology (MRiT). The Agency is responsible for implementing the priorities of the Polish Space Strategy, as well as strengthening Poland’s position in the global value chain related to the exploration and use of outer space.

POLSA acts as a bridge between industry, the scientific community, public administration, and international organizations. It collaborates with the European Space Agency (ESA), NASA, and partners worldwide, while also supporting Polish companies and institutions in securing contracts and participating in prestigious space projects. The promotion of the Polish space sector at both national and international levels is one of the pillars of its activity.

At the core of POLSA’s mission are key systemic initiatives, such as the development of the National Satellite Information System, providing satellite data access for administration and the economy, and the establishment of the National Space Security System, aimed at protecting critical infrastructure and developing capabilities in the field of Space Situational Awareness/Space Surveillance and Tracking (SSA/SST).

Education is also a vital area of POLSA’s activity. The Agency initiates and supports projects that popularize knowledge about space and satellite technologies, inspiring children, young people, and students to pursue careers in the space sector. In response to the growing demand of the labor market, POLSA promotes cooperation between schools, universities, and businesses, ensuring that future generations of engineers and scientists can develop innovative solutions in Poland and globally.

In 2025, Poland reached a historic milestone with the implementation of the IGNIS Mission – the country’s first mission to the International Space Station (ISS). During this mission, Polish astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski conducted scientific and technological experiments prepared by domestic research institutes and enterprises. The IGNIS Mission opens a new chapter in the history of the Polish space sector, confirming its potential and ability to cooperate at the highest international level.

POLSA is an agency that combines strategic vision with tangible action. By fostering synergy between industry, science, and public administration, outer space becomes a domain where Polish institutions and companies can develop their expertise and compete globally. The Agency’s activities not only strengthen national security but also contribute to economic growth and innovation in everyday life.
