Description
Innovative research is conducted at Lodz University of Technology, with a large number of research projects carried out in collaboration with national and international partners. Many of these projects focus on dual-use technologies. The University is among the elite group of institutions with the highest number of research grants from the prestigious Horizon Europe framework programme.
In 2022, the Research Center for Defence and Security Technologies (CBOB) was established at Lodz University of Technologies, tasked with the mission to integrate the University’s research groups around topics and problems related to broadly defined defence and security. A catalogue was published of leading technologies for swift implementation in the sector of defence and security. Among the many solutions offered there are advanced autonomous vehicles, innovative textile technologies for camouflage and for the neutralisation of mobile high-energy objects on the battlefield, technologies for the production of rubber for tyres for military vehicle operating in superarctic conditions, as well as optoelectronic technologies including laser technologies and smart wide-infrared image sensors. Furthermore, potential partners may also be interested in intelligent rescue suits, wideband antennas integrated with clothing and soldier equipment, as well as non-destructive testing technologies and detection of explosive, flammable, and toxic gases. Recognizing their significant scientific and research potential for developing dual-use technologies, civilian universities decided to strengthen their cooperation by forming the Jastrząb Alliance of Research Centres for Defense and Security Technologies of Civilian Universities of Technology [Porozumienie Centrów Badawczych Obronności i Bezpieczeństwa cywilnych uczelni technicznych "Jastrząb"]. Currently, six universities are members of the Alliance: Warsaw University of Technology, Lodz University of Technology, Silesian University of Technology, Kielce University of Technology, Bialystok University of Technology, and Rzeszow University of Technology.
The Alliance seeks to integrate interdisciplinary research groups across different research institutes and promote innovative solutions for state defence and security. Lodz University of Technology offers innovative research and development works in
