Description
Łukasiewicz – PIAP is a Polish center of robotics and automation, operating since 1965. The Institute specializes in designing and producing mobile robots and specialized devices for law enforcement, rescue services, and defense applications.
Mobile Robots
PIAP PATROL – a medium-sized tracked robot for CBRN detection and improvised explosive device (IED) neutralization. Its compact, modular design allows transport in a passenger vehicle. The manipulator can lift payloads up to 35 kg.
PIAP IBIS – a robot for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and reconnaissance. Its six-wheeled platform handles rough terrain. The extendable manipulator lifts up to 70 kg and can carry chemical detectors, pyrotechnic launchers, and other mission-specific tools.
PIAP GRYF – a lightweight reconnaissance robot for hard-to-reach areas, with a manipulator lifting up to 15 kg.
PIAP FENIX – a portable reconnaissance robot, ideal for urban and challenging environments. Equipped with a thermal camera and optionally a night-vision camera for day and night operations.
PIAP TRM – a small tactical robot, drop-resistant from heights up to 9 meters, designed for rapid reconnaissance in confined or hard-to-access spaces.
Specialized Devices and Accessories
Mobile X-Ray systems, pyrotechnic launchers, CBRN accessories, and radiation or hazardous substance detectors. Modular design enables customization for specific operational requirements.
International Exercises
PIAP robots participated in OPEX 2025 exercises in Italy, performing autonomous missions, medical evacuation (CASEVAC), supply transport, and reconnaissance in challenging terrain. The exercises demonstrated the quality and versatility of PIAP solutions in realistic operational conditions.
Applications and Collaboration
PIAP systems are used by military, police, fire, border guard, and rescue services in Poland and 27 countries worldwide. The Institute works closely with end-users to provide solutions tailored to operational needs.
Team and Infrastructure
Headquarters in Warsaw, branch in Toruń. PIAP employs nearly 250 experts in robotics, automation, mechanical engineering, and IT.
Łukasiewicz – PIAP is a leader in specialized robotics, offering innovative, reliable solutions for security, civil protection, and defense.
