The future of metrology in the spotlight. Industrial Spring team at international conference in Kielce
The three-day conference brought together academics, public officials and business people. Its interdisciplinary format made it an ideal forum for sharing knowledge and experience on the main challenges facing metrology today, a field that is central to the development of modern manufacturing processes.
Topics included the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in metrology, big data processing, laser measurement technology and the automation of measurement processes in the context of Industry 5.0. These areas are becoming ever more important for precision, quality and efficiency in manufacturing.
The conference was organised as part of the work of the Polish Metrology Union (PUM), run by Lublin University of Technology under a task commissioned by the Minister of Science and Higher Education entitled ‘Strengthening and Consolidating the Activities of the Polish Metrology Union (PUM) in Poland’. Experts from the Central Office of Measures (GUM) and Kielce University of Technology, among others, also took part.
The Metrology Cluster: bringing science and industry together
Expo Kielce was represented by Urszula Wasińska, Director of the Congress Centre and coordinator of the Metrology Cluster, and Jakub Górski of the team behind the CONTROL-STOM trade fair, part of Industrial Spring.
A highlight of the programme was Urszula Wasińska’s presentation on the work of the Metrology Cluster. The initiative brings researchers, institutions and companies together around the development of advanced measurement technology, encouraging them to share experience and fostering collaboration between science and business.
The Metrology Cluster was launched during Industrial Spring at Expo Kielce. Its continued work shows that trade fairs are not just showcases for innovation, but also places where new initiatives linking science and industry are born.
From research to industrial application: CONTROL-STOM 2027
The issues raised at ‘New Trends in Metrology’ tie in directly with CONTROL-STOM, the Industrial Measurement Technology Trade Fair, part of Industrial Spring.
With smart measurement systems on the rise, quality control increasingly automated and advanced technology ever more widely used in manufacturing, metrology is becoming a key area of industrial transformation. Collaboration between experts, scientists and businesses makes it possible to turn research findings into solutions with practical applications on the factory floor.
The CONTROL-STOM trade fair provides a platform for showcasing these technologies, sharing experience and building links between measuring equipment suppliers and industry.
The next Industrial Spring, including CONTROL-STOM, will take place at Expo Kielce on 6–9 April 2027. It will be another chance for the communities shaping the future of modern manufacturing and industrial metrology to come together.
