Over the past 30 years, Kielce has changed a lot. Many facilities and initiatives have been created - these have been awarded in the Gazeta Wyborcza Daily SuperCities plebiscite.

The achievements list indicted that  Targi Kielce, the then Kielce Trade Fair Centre creation and operation has been one of the most important factors. . The Kielce's 'Wyborcza' Daily readers emphasized the importance of introducing expo traditions into the city’s landscape:  " Targi Kielce - the indisputable pride of our city. We had had no expo traditions before. The expo and congress centre was created from scratch. That was the city and province authorities’ initiative.  Their history dates back to 1992, when the then Kielce mayor visited the sister city of Herning in Denmark - the mayor was delighted to see the trade fair centre. Thus he came up with the idea to create a similar one in the city on the Silnica river.  The International Defence Industry Exhibition is worth mentioning - since 1993 the  International Defence Industry Exhibition has been one of the most important B2B exhibitions in Europe.
