01 february 2024
Over 50 people took part in a webinar devoted to the challenge awaiting Targi Kielce Hackathon participants in April this year! The online meeting was dedicated to a detailed discussion on the challenge - create biocircular solutions designed to replace traditional carpets or present a carpet recycling technology, indicating the application of products after processing

The event finals are scheduled for 10-11 April 2024, as an accompanying event to the EKOTECH Environmental Protection and Waste Management Expo. Selected entities and participants enter the final stage.   The event allows Targi Kielce to take another step towards sustainable development and ecology. "BioBoosters" - international bioeconomy hackathons are innovation competitions aimed at finding solutions to economic or technological challenges that support the green transformation in large and recognised enterprises. – Targi Kielce is a socially responsible company that cares about the environment. These ideas are the guiding beacon for us; thus we resolved to develop and implement new product solutions based on circular bioeconomy principles. Our ambition is to be among those European exhibition centres that can actively and effectively engage in the green economic transformation - Doctor Andrzej Mochoń, president of Targi Kielce, talks about the idea of the Targi Kielce Hackathon.

Every year, approximately 100,000 square meters of carpets are ordered and used at Targi Kielce.  Polypropylene carpet materials are used at expos stands and in passageways between booths. Every year, over 300,000 visitors to the Kielce exhibition and congress centre stroll on the carpeted expo surface.  After each event, used carpets land in a container and end up in the trash.

The hackathon welcomes all Polish innovators, entrepreneurs, scientific and research entities, academic milieus and student teams as well as individuals, all those eligible to principate in the activity.   The event organisers’ objective is also to reach possibly the most significant number of Baltic Sea Region’s entities interested in the competition (Scandinavian countries, the Baltic states and Germany). The hackathon winners boosts its prospect to develop and produce their product in cooperation with the Kielce exhibition and congress centre.

Targi Kielce Hackathon is a part of the "BioBoosters - boosting the circular transition" project, i.e the project is carried out by an international consortium of renowned universities, innovation hubs and social and economic entities. The PRO CIVIS Foundation, organiser of Targi Kielce Hackathon is the Polish representative in the project. Interested? Do not wait and join in the project.  Detailed information available soon on the website www.procivis.org.pl and www.targikielce.pl.
