It is impossible to transport anything without packaging. Logistics discussed at the LogInPack Congress in Targi Kielce
The International Congress for the Logistics and Packaging Industry - LogInPack is held on 27 and 28 June in Targi Kielce. The LogInPack Congress is the first event of this type in Targi Kielce, the event has been created upon the initiative of leading companies operating in the logistics and packaging sector. The industry insiders resolved to create their knowledge and experience exchange platform, the arena to hold debates on the most important challenges and trends in these sectors.
One of the panels - "Special packaging in logistics" was organised by the Polish Chamber of Packaging and was chaired by the president of the institution, MSc. Eng. Krzysztof Niczyporuk.
The smart and active packaging in logistics systems is discussed by Professor, PhD. Hab Ryszard Cierpiszewski, Poznań University of Economics and Business - Active packaging allows food products, such as cheese, to stay fresh for longer he explained. - And thanks smart packaging, we can assess whether the product is suitable for consumption, even after the expiration date. Otherwise, a product might have deteriorated befor this date expires - he explained.
Packaging and certification for the transport of hazardous materials were discussed by Doctor Engineer Ewa Kopania from COBRO Lodz Institute of Technology - Łukasiewicz Research Network. She emphasised that preparing documentation in this regard is challenging due to extensive regulations. – Packaging design does not always correspond with a given hazardous substance and then a problem arises. Advisors should step in to check how the packaging should be designed; the Office of Road Transport provides assistance in finding such specialists - she noted.
Packaging - logistic aspects of supplies in an armed conflict was discussed by Doctor Hab Maciej Stajniak, Professor of University of Logistics in Poznań. He pointed out, packaging in logistics is necessary; commodities in transport must be packed. – In the army, we divide material resources into five groups; fresh foodstuffs, loose products, propellants and lubricants, larger goods requiring packaging construction, and the last group - technical warfare agents, i.e. dangerous ones. Depending on the groups, we select the packaging according to our needs, transport destination and role these materials are to play - explained Professor Stajniak.
As he admitted, the biggest problem is ]large containers transport. Already at the time of such packaging designing, it is necessary to take into account not only the appropriate volumetric parameters, but also the installation of places for e.g. straps to attach the container to the platform on which it will be transported.
- The transport of such goods requires work and effort, but you can't transport anything without packaging, it would be pointless - recapitulated Doctor Hab. Maciej Stajniak, Professor of University of Logistics in Poznań.
