HYUNDAI WIA, established in 1976, was incorporated into HYUNDAI MOTOR GROUP in 1999.
As the Only large caliber artillery manufacturer in South Korea, the company is expanding future businesses.
In our defense business, we produce a variety of land, naval, and aviation products, especially gun barrel and artillery for K9 self-propelled Howitzers and K2 main battle tanks.
Particularly, we are leveraging its expertise by combining artillery systems with mobility technology. This strategic convergence is driving the company to become global leader in mobile artillery systems.

1. Lightweight 105mm Self-Propelled Howitzer
The first product I'd like to introduce is the “Light-weight 105mm Self-propelled Howitzer,” which is actually the first time for HYUNDAI WIA to present here at the MSPO.
This model is mounted on KIA’s small tactical vehicle, showcasing the strong collaboration within Hyundai Motor Group. This product is armed with KH178 and can also be utilized on the battlefield with a command vehicle, fire truck, and ammunition carrier. This system is optimized for "Shoot & Scoot" tactics, as each vehicle weighs less than 7 tons and can be airlifted by tandem rotor helicopters like the CH-47 Chinook. The number of the crew has been reduced from six to four, which enhances its mobility and efficiency. It boasts a maximum firing rate of 10 rounds per minute and a range of 14.7 kilometers. This Lightweight 105mm SPG Howitzer is completed development with the Defense Rapid Acquisition Technology Research Institute.

2. Mobile Type 81mm Mortar
Next, we have the “Mobile-type 81mm mortar”.
While the Korean Infantry Division already operates the 81mm mortar, HYUNDAI WIA has advanced this product to be mounted on KIA’s small tactical vehicle, enabling much faster battlefield deployment. This system significantly improves efficiency with a maximum firing range of 6.1 kilometers. The automatic laying system reduces laying time from 5 minutes to just 10 seconds, and the crew size has also been reduced from 5 to 3.
Notably, if the vehicle encounters any restrictions or malfunctions, the mortar barrel can be detached and used with existing gun plates, artillery legs, and other necessary equipment. Last thing to note, we successfully completed the environmental and firing tests in July.

3. Mobile Type RCWS
The next product is the “Remote-Controlled Weapon System (RCWS)”, designed to be mounted on various vehicle platforms.
Equipped with AI object recognition and radar, this system enhances target detection function, while its stabilization control significantly improves firing accuracy, even during movement.
