- Illicit drug trafficking is an aggravating problem all over the world. Organised crime groups increasingly target this type of crime, resulting in very high returns with less risk of detection. Abuse of drugs beyond medical purpose has become widespread, emphasised Professor Zbigniew Fijałek. - Consumers use drugs for a variety of reasons, including psychotropic, recreational, or performance-enhancing purposes. They use them over the counter, injecting non-injectable products such as sublingual tablets, pain relief patches, and eye drops. Fake antiviral products, unauthorised Covid-19 testing and medical devices such as face masks and disinfectants could put society's health at risk.
Doctor of Pharmacy talked about how to distinguish fake Covid-19 diagnostic tests that pose a risk to patients. Sławomir Białek presented photos of what fakes look like. - The packaging is clean, without any markings or names, though there should be the name of the manufacturer, address, CE symbol, and identification number.
Pharmaceutical and forensic analysis of counterfeit medicinal products and dietary supplements was discussed by Agnieszka Kalicka MsC. She presented fake products that are very similar to genuine ones. - The problem of fighting this crime is related to detection. Both the active component and the packaging look real - she explained. Only laboratory research shows whether the composition complies with the label.
Pharmacological and psychopharmacological body shaping vs the results of laboratory diagnostic tests closed the session.
