The origins of ROMATEX date back to the 1980s, when the Swiss company ROCATEX sold precision machine tools from Swiss companies such as TORNOS, STUDER, TRIPET, WYSBROD, German DECKEL, Herbert Walter (later exeron) and Swedish JUNGNER in Poland. After ROCATEX withdrew from the Polish market, one of the partners of this company, Robert Matyjek, founded ROMATEX in 1992 and continued its operations. The company name comes from the then fashionable way of generating company names containing the abbreviation of the first and last name and the ending ex or imp, in this case - RObert MATyjek EXport.

In the 1990s, ROMATEX was the exclusive dealer of DECKEL in Poland. Later, after DECKLE merged first with GILDEMEISTER, then with MAHO and later after the creation of the DMG group, ROMATEX continued to actively sell this company's machine tools on the Polish market until 2000, when DMG Polska was established with its headquarters in Pleszew. In addition to a wide range of DMG machines, the scope of supply included Herbert Walter's (today's exeron) EDM machines, Jungner universal grinders and Michael Deckel tool grinders, and MONFORTS lathes.

In the years 2004-2012 ROMATEX was the exclusive dealer of HERMLE in Poland. We achieved great success selling over 70 5-axis machining centers during this period. Selling these machines was a titanic effort of the entire ROMATEX team, because the 5-axis machining technique was not as popular as it is now. However, HERMLE, like DMG before it, established its branch in Poland and the cooperation with ROMATEX ended in 2012.
The years 2012 to the present day have been a dynamic development of the company with a stable delivery program, renowned and reliable machine suppliers. Competent and communicative sales engineers help customers choose the right type of machine for the task. Well-trained service engineers respond quickly to the customer's problem and are able to deal with any failure.
